After the Rain

Being surrounded by acres of mature sunflowers following a storm is a surreal experience.  It’s almost a claustrophobic feeling as the tall flowers seem to literally grow around you.

As the clouds begin to fade, the smell of the recent rain excites the senses. The bees seem to rise from the ground and the flower heads move in unison toward the rays of sunshine that pierce through the parting clouds. The soft light and brilliant colors of the sunflowers provided the perfect opportunity to capture this image.
