Quarantine Questions

Photograph and text by Russell A. Taylor III
From the May 2020 issue

This young raccoon was left in the safety of a wood duck nesting box as the mother slept higher in the treetop. With the current state of affairs forcing us to stay home, I feel that this raccoon symbolizes all of our anxieties. We look out of the windows of our homes and wonder when our lives will become normal again, just as the raccoon looks out of the nesting box hole wondering when it will be time to travel once more.
