A photographic look at why we live here

Resting Spot

  • VV Arni Pelicans Fav Resting Spot HP adj cmyk

Photograph and text by Ken Arni
From the April 2022 issue

Little Bacon Island in the Rehoboth Bay is one of the places that I love to go in my kayak. That’s where a very old hunting shanty stood for many years, and it became a favorite resting spot for brown pelicans. Then, when Hurricane Sandy came along, the shanty was blown away. But the pilings that were built strongly into the marsh remained, so the pelicans still go there to rest.
