Mom and Calf Moment

My girlfriend and I were taking photographs at the Indian River Inlet when we spotted several dolphins swimming in the inlet toward Rehoboth Bay. She screamed with excitement, “There’s a baby!” as we both fired as many frames as possible during the brief encounter. In the end, to my enjoyment, we both had the same photograph of mom with her calf. My image was taken with a 300 mm lens with a 2x teleconverter on a Nikon D4s. That is the great thing about photography: You never know when you will get that unique image, if ever at all, but I will always keep doing my best so I’m ready when that moment happens.
