Painterly Sunset

The Point at Cape Henlopen is the place for sunset pictures, but the main attraction is the red Breakwater Lighthouse which is close to land and very photogenic. Much farther off is the white Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse which caught my eye because of the unique lighting at that moment. Using a telephoto lens, I took several pictures, but really wasn’t expecting much because of the distance. When I viewed the resulting images on my computer, something reminded me of old paintings I had seen. I had recently read an article about how to make adjustments to get that painterly look in a photograph, so I gave it a try. I was pleased with the result and posted it online as a tribute to the still operational lighthouse, which I often overlook.
