The Payoff

I’m always hoping for an opportunity to photograph a storm as the clouds roll in. Sometimes though, the opportunity for a cool picture comes after the storm. I was set up on the beach north of Rehoboth, hoping to capture a good shot while the storm was still overhead: raincoat on, shoes soaking wet, grocery bag around my camera to keep it dry.
I could see the sky was getting orange and that the clouds were about to break and let the sunshine through. And just before sunset, from behind the last of the passing storm clouds, the sun came out and created this huge rainbow! Actually capturing the picture you want is not always the case — but I can tell you that I was all smiles on the drive home after getting this one!
