Tranquility at Twilight

As far back as my memory stretches, the magical time of day when daylight activities come to an end and quiet evening life takes over has been a favorite for me. Going back to the sandlot sports of my boyhood, twilight marked the end of the game and time to go home for dinner and rest. Later in life, on long road trips, that post-sunset twilight glow instills a certain calm deep inside me.
I love photographing that time of day, and doing so with my drone adds a whole new perspective on a community’s transition to night. In this photograph, the tranquility of Lewes at twilight, punctuated by two boats passing in the canal, their wakes colliding and making interesting patterns on the water’s surface, gave me that calming sense of day done, time to turn on the lights and relax.
